Julia's goal is to be more flexible in her hamstrings and find more length in her lower back. As most things are, these problems are directly realated. Tightness in your hamstrings can cause tightness and compression in your lumbar spine.
Here's a quick and easy exercise you can do every day that will address both:
Stand with your hands on a countertop or chair that's hip height or lower. Step
back until you can bring your body to a flat back parallel to the floor with your feet
hip bone width apart. Tilt your tailbone up to the ceiling arching your lower back
and bend your knees a lot. Keeping your tailbone sloped upwards try to extend
your legs slowly. You should feel a big stretch in the back of your legs. To
increase the stretch find something lower to put your hands on, eventually
placing your hands on the floor. Do this every day as many times as you can and
you'll notice your flexibility increasing.
